Pilates is a special exercises system. These exercises are based on the natural posture and movement of the human body.

Pilates is the conscious control of all muscular movement in the body. At Body Control Pilates a formula has been developed in the approach to perform exercises to the best of one’s physical ability. Pilates called his method “Contrology”. With the exercises routines gently leads you to more physical challenges, improved mental focus and increased health benefits.

The Pilates Method works from “inside out” you develop a greater understanding of your body. Smaller muscle groups come into use and you begin to discover muscles that you thought never had before. Who was Pilates?

Josef Pilates was born in Germany in 1880. His sicknesses in childhood motivated him to work out a new exercise system.

His determination and application to work his body to better health meant that, at 14 he was studying the musculature of the body. His studies also included Eastern forms of exercise and, merging those with his Western physical studies, the Pilates Method was born.
